Celebrating 25 - When your best friend is also your spouse
Today's a wonderfully special day for me. Mary Ellen and I are celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary!
What? Did I say 25th? Yes, I did. Now that's a huge accomplishment in this day and age when more than half of marriages end in divorce. I've been very fortunate in the partner i chose to be a part of my life.
To the left is a picture of Mary Ellen on our wedding day twenty-five years ago. Of course you can see how beautiful she was on our wedding day and she's just as beautiful today as you can see in the picture on the right. We've seen a lot of good times together, such as our time living in Long Island New
York, buying our first house in Texas, building a family together in Texas and Colorado, watching our
two wonderful kids grow up into young adults we are proud of, starting
new businesses, performing music together, meeting new neighborhood and church friends, and a lot
of other fun parts of our lives. There have also been some hard times
and some challenges, such as Mary Ellen's battle with stage four breast
cancer, losing a few close family members along the way, and closing down a business during the dot-bomb era.
Through it all though what I've realized is that Mary Ellen is more than just a spouse who I love and cherish dearly, she's also my best friend. We know each other pretty well, and it's amazing she's put up with all my annoying habits and quirks here and there for all this time. Of course I'm very happy she has. When you can't imagine being without someone then you know you've got something very special. The fire is still there, burning bright, and I'm very thankful to be in a marriage that still makes me happy today and excited to spend time with my wife.
So to my wife and bride of 25 years I say thank you and I love you. Thank you for being the person who I've enjoyed sharing my life with, and thank you for being there in thick and thin. The best part is I get to look forward to the exciting times ahead and know I get to share those with you too.
Happy 25th Anniversary. Love ya. Mitch

Congrats Mitchell. Sounds like you are a very happy man. There is truly no better blessing from God than a wonderful and loving wife.
April and I are celebrating number 11 tomorrow, BTW.
